Born and raised in New Orleans, Rafael de Castro graduated from LSU in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and has called Baton Rouge his home ever since. Rafael has worked in Business Development and Non-Profit Management for the past 36 years and is excited to join the Latter & Blum Estate team.
Rafael has spent the last eight years as the Executive Director of two local nonprofits. For three years he worked with homeless children as the Executive Director of Youth Oasis homeless shelter and has spent the last five years as the Executive Director of the Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault. It is that same passion to help others which led Rafael to not only enter real estate but also join Latter & Blum.
Rafael is the son of two Cuban immigrants and is fluent in Spanish. Even though he doesn’t cook as well as his mother, Rafael loves to eat and loves to Bar B Que but finds a way to burn off those calories as an avid cyclist and runner.
Rafael has been married to his wife Kim since 1989 and has one son, Nick.
